More questions from providers
What kinds of patients benefit most? Accident patients whose cognitive, vestibular, or sleep symptoms continue past the first visits, patients who struck their head or had a strong whiplash-type jolt, and patients whose family reports changes in memory or mood. The referral checklist covers the details.
Can I refer a patient who was already seen in the ER with normal imaging? Yes. Emergency imaging is designed to rule out urgent structural problems. Functional testing answers a different question, which is how the brain is working. A normal CT doesn't rule out a referral when symptoms persist.
How many patients do we need to refer? There's no minimum. Practices refer as their caseload calls for, and we group patients on testing days whenever possible.
What space do you need? A quiet room with a chair and a table, ideally away from heavy foot traffic. Our technician brings everything else.
Will patients be confused about who is treating them? We explain at the start that Braintree provides testing only and that their own provider will go over the results. The report comes back to you.
How do specialty referrals work? If the physician review suggests specialty evaluation, we can help coordinate it with you. You decide which referrals to make.
How is patient information protected? Referrals and reports move through secure channels, and we follow applicable privacy rules. Please don't send protected health information by unencrypted email.
How do we get started? Book a 15-minute briefing or call 813-709-3771. Most practices can refer right after their briefing.
Can multiple locations refer? Yes. Multi-location groups can refer from every site, and we plan testing days across locations.
Can patients bring a family member? Usually yes. A family member can also help describe symptom changes since the accident. The technician may ask them to wait outside during certain tasks so the patient isn't distracted.
What if a patient's symptoms are severe on testing day? The technician will pause testing. If red flags appear, such as a worsening headache, repeated vomiting, confusion, a seizure, or weakness, the patient needs emergency care right away. Call 911.
Do you work with physical therapists and primary care physicians too? Yes. Any treating provider who sees accident patients can refer. The process is the same.
Is there paperwork for our staff beyond the referral? Very little. We handle scheduling logistics with your front desk, and the report arrives ready for the chart.
Who do we call with a question about a specific report? Contact our team at 813-709-3771 and we'll route the question appropriately.
Do you offer treatment after testing? No. Braintree provides diagnostics only. Treatment decisions stay with you, and any specialty evaluation is coordinated with your approval.
